Sorry no help on the toe nail... ouch :( Great job on making it to week 5! I'm envious that you are able to do it - some day I'll be to that level of activity again! Can't wait to hear how the actual event goes! Keep on working hard - you will do great!!!

soak it in "epsom" salt and warm water. or, if it is infected, try rubbing mentholatem (sp?) on it, let the puss come to a head (gross, I know) and then poke it with a steralized needle and squeeze the lovely green stuff out. then soak it.

Hey Samye! Sorry about the toe! That's great you are doing a triatholon, there are so many of you in our ward that are so athletic!!! Hey I didn't have your e-mail and was inviting a bunch of people to go to KIDZ RULE on Wednesday at 10:30. Here's my e-mail:

There are a few of us that are going to KIDZ RULE on Wednesday, September 17th at 10:30 am. It is right next to the new St. Rose hosptial on Warm Springs, off of Durango. The address is: 7260 S. Cimarron Rd. Suite 100. I have never been there before but it supposed to have fun blow up toys for kids and even for the younger kids, 2 and under. The prices are - $5.99 for kids 3 and under and $6.99 for 4 and older, this is for all day. I'm pretty sure adults are free. They have food there too, we were going to have lunch there. Anyways, if you want to come meet us there at 10:30 on Wednesday!!! Also, I don't have everyone's e-mail from the ward so forward this on to anyone I missed!!! Hope to see you there! -Ashlee

Remember when you guys were helping me with my ingrown toenail? Soak it for 10 minutes in warm water, then clip the side where it's ingrown just a bit, and pull on that bit slowly, tearing out the nail. It kinda hurts, but the softer the skin is, the better. I got mine surgically removed, but now I have one on the other big toe...ugh. I know how you feel! Good luck!

I always get ingrown toenails. I just cut the side of the nail at an angel and then tear it down toward the ingrown, but you have to be careful so you get the whole nail piece and it doesn't rip leaving a piece still in there. Or you can try to lift it up and stuff cotton under it, it helps to grow up out of the skin. And soaking it is always a good idea.

You go girl! Soak your toe in epsom salt. Also, a podiatrist told my husband to cut a big notch in the center-end of the toenail...supposedly it makes your body focus on filling that section back in rather than growing more into your skin.

Hey Girl! Congrats on the Tri-training! I can't wait to hear how it goes. I am hoping to do an olympic next summer. Yikes... I need to get a bike tho. What kind did you get? Your kids are so stinkin cute. They are both getting so big!! I can't believe it! Jake just had his ingrown toe nail removed for good. It just kept coming back, and so it was worth it. Vegas looks like it is a lot of fun! We will for sure have to make a trip sometime.

Ingrown toenails are the worst. I've gotten three removed from my big toes. I know to prevent them you are supposed to cut your toenails straight across, but I'm not sure how to quick fix them. I think the soaking advice sounds good. Good luck with your triathlon. I can't wait to hear how it goes. Don't get bit by a dog!

k i know it's gross but i think i've been doing self-operations on my ingrown toenail since middle school. I just cut them out when they occur. And I guess since I've had them for so long, clearly that is NOT the brightest solution! :) I've heard all sorts of tips though, one of which is two wad up a tiny piece of cotton from a q-tip and shove it underneath to train it to grow out and above instead of burrowing down. It never really worked for me, but if nothing else, i can totally sympathize!!! If it's killing you before the race you'll just have to take some ibuprofen and endure it. You go!!!

Ouchy! I had one while training a few years ago.. and it hurts! I soaked mine in a foot bath for a few days and it actually worked. I think I was back to running in two or three days. I have a foot spa thingy, if you want it.

Sorry about the toe Samye. :(

I was just going to tell you, Erin Erekson and I were at the park today, and this woman came there who looked EXACTLY like you - it was crazy! She and I were both like, Samye??? Then it just made us miss you. :(
