Bubba!

So in case you don't know his nickname is Bubba-and why, I have no idea but it works for now. Anyway- we have two items of GREAT news to share! #1- We have an official sitter! Bennett is now sitting completly on his own!! (Yipee!) He is loving being able to look around more and be more interactive! And #2 we have a tooth! His bottom left tooth finally made itself present today and I am so glad that it finally showed up! Of course it means more are to follow, but he is getting his chompers!

The Best Ever!

So, since Bennett was itty bitty he has had skin issues (I feel so bad for the poor guy)!! We have tried all sorts of lotions, we even had him on steriod cream but nothing seemed to "kill it". Officially he has been diagnosed with Infant Eczema-and he hopefully will grow out of it. But, until that point I ran across this lotion at CVS the other day and it is wonderful!! Even if your baby is just super dry this lotion will make them nice and...well...greasy! Anyway- just had to put a plug in, because this stuff is WONDERFUL!
**AND if you are going to get it, go to their website becuse there is a $2 rebate!!

Sleepy Saturday

We have had a relaxing Saturday-enjoying the ice and snow outside as an excuse to get a lot of stuff done around the house. Obviously it wore Bennett out!

And Yes, Halle is very upset that Bennett is snuggling with her carebear.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CAT DIARY
Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of
escape.
In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomited on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am.
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.
The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.
The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now...
Fondue?
We enjoyed fondue with Halle...she REALLY loved dipping fruit in chocolate-and talks about wanting to use the "screwdrivers in chocolate". Gotta love kids.
And of course Halle is wearing a white shirt...of course.
Uptown Cafe
Thanks to a baby gift, we got to enjoy going out to breakfast! We went to a place called the Uptown Cafe...and yes we were the only people there with kids. We even got a couple of funny stares but hey- we really enjoyed ourselves! I got the whole wheat banana pancakes (yummy!!) Halle enjoyed the cheese omelet (I think the nicest cheese omelet I have ever tasted) and Dustin enjoyed the usual of eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. All of the food was amazing, but not the environment that we usually take our kiddos to!
I think out of all of us Bennett enjoyed himself the most!
Science Museum
We went to the Science museum in Indianapolis this weekend. It was so much fun, and Halle just had a blast! They even had an area for little babies to play in-(so Bennett had someplace to play!!)
Valentines day
It was a beautiful Valentines day here in Bloomington (that is if you don't mind it being FREEZING cold)! Once again this year Dustin had to work late so Bennett and Halle enjoyed a romantic dinner together of macaroni and cheese. They both received another Valentines day package from Grammy (thankyou!!!) although I am still peeling stickers off of everything! (I still LOVE the package though...it kept Halle busy for a long time!) Halle wanted to wear her "queen crown" all day long, and of course Bennett got to wear it too!
For the "real" Valentines dinner Dustin got home around 9pm and we cooked dinner together. It was meditteranean salmon with white beans-tasty, but a little too gourmet for us I think. We even busted out the china for dinner(thanks Jean!) and enjoyed a quiet, long, dinner...with no kids interupting! It was so nice to eat and chat-we really enjoyed ourselves. I had planned on making fondue for dessert but Dustin surprised me and got me some truffles from a gourmet chocolate place here in town- SO GOOD! So we will be enjoying the fondue tonight (Saturday)!
On another note, Dustin got to "enjoy" a campout last night...it was 23 for the low. I am sure that he had fun with all those boys! One of the scout leader, his wife came over and we watched No Reservations last night-super cute!
The Dentist
Well Halle had her first dentist appointment today-and it went GREAT! We practiced last night opening our mouth, and saying aaahhhh (great strategy). When we got there this morning, the first thing we see is a kid having a complete meltdown over having to go see the dentist (great) but Halle just looked at me and said "uh oh, he's not being nice for the doctor". Halle was so good-she let the dentist count all of her teeth, clean them with the scraper tool (or whatever it is called) and then let him feel all of them! What a trooper! In the picture Halle is showing everyone her pretty smile, and the way cool bouncy ball she got at the dentist.
After taking the first picture Halle wanted to take a picture with Bennett...as you can see Bennett REALLY wanted to take a picture with Halle. I think she might have to watch herself as soon as he gets mobile!!
On another note, poor Bennett has had some sort of cold! Poor little guy!! But thanks to my friend Morgan (big shout out here) for the Johnson & Johnsons bubble bath stuff I LOVE IT! Everyone with kids should have a bottle of this stuff on hand at all times!! I think we might be getting some teeth here and that is what this cold is. He is still such a happy baby, even when he can't breath through his nose!
*don't mind the sock in the background...I can't keep socks on Halle's feet to save my life! She refuses to wear them...even when it is 15 degrees outside!
Hinckley Challenge
So I heard about this and thought... I really don't have time to do this-BUT I figured if I don't have time to do something like this then time needs to be made!! The challenge is to read the Book of Mormon in 97 days, and it started (I believe) 2 days ago. I am going to try REALLY hard to accept this challenge and finish!! I challenge all of you to do the same!
President Gordon B. Hinckley on the Book of Mormon
"I take in my hand the Book of Mormon. I read its words. I have read Joseph Smith's explanation of how it came to be. To the unbelieving it is a story difficult to accept, and critics for generations have worn out their lives writing books intended to refute that story and to offer other explanations than the one given by Joseph the Prophet. But to the open-minded, this critical writing has only stimulated them to dig deeper; and the more deeply they dig, the greater the accumulation of evidence for the validity of Joseph Smith's story. Still, as has been demonstrated for a hundred and fifty years, the truth of the Book of Mormon will not be determined by literary analysis or by scientific research, although these continue to be reassuring. The truth about the origins of the Book of Mormon will be determined today and tomorrow, as it has been throughout the yesterdays, by reading the book in a spirit of reverence and respect and prayer."
( "Praise to the Man," Ensign, Aug. 1983, 4)
Playing outside
On Saturday we tried enjoying the "warmer" weather by playing outside with the kiddos. Halle LOVED it! We ran races, played soccer, and looked at all the frozen dog poop (don't you just love living in an area where people don't pick up after their pets??). It was a lot of fun, and looking at the weather forecast for this week we could be up for some more "warm" days!!
Bubba with his hat that is just a wee too small...that or he just has a really big noggin.
Playing soccer
We realized that we just don't take enough pictures of just us. So...here ya go!
And taking a break after such a rough soccer game.
