Guessing game

So, we go in on Wednesday morning to find out what gender baby #2 is!! We are super excited and wanted to throw out there for everyone to participate and guess what they think it is going to be!! Right now we are really unsure but have started leaning more towards it being a boy. A disclaimer though-we will be more than happy with either a girl or boy!! (More fun for me and the Grandma's for shopping if it is a boy though!!) Anyway- let us know what you think and come Wednesday we will let you all know!!!

Peek-A-Boo

Halle has learned how to clean out her cabinet in the kitchen and hide in it. It is super cute and I am still ever so happy that I made that cabinet for her. It is filled with her pots and pans, and all of my plastic mixing bowls. (Great things for her to play with!!) She has also just gotten into wearing all the clothing that Grammy lovingly provided too!! the 2T's are a perfect fit, and some of the shirts show off her great little curves!! (LOVE IT!)

New Hair Do!

So it has been what...6 months...so in Samye world that means it is time for a change! Well that, and I have been getting major headaches with long hair and it takes forever to do so- with the help of my wonderful stylist Holly we came up with this new do!! It is super cute little bob and I LOVE IT! I feel like I have lost 5 lbs off my head, and I also feel stylish!! I am super excited to work with it and think I might keep the shorter do for a while. I know a lot of my family likes my hair long but, they aren't the ones with the headaches so- here it is!!

Diaper Trouble!

Had to post these pics, because Dustin and I were having the HARDEST time with it!! We went to the park to play and Halle got icecream...so we had to strip her when we got home so I could work some laundry magic and look what we found!! Halle's diaper had some major issues! Not being able to stay on her body...that is an issue. Especially since we are in size 5's...one of the biggest sizes!! Looks like it might be getting close to potty training time due to not being able to fit into diapers!!

Mommy points

Halle and I made cookies the other day...she loved licking the mixer more than eating the cookies (although she is eating a cookie right now for snack)! She has become quite the helper, very eager to please. We also had a cute happening at lunch today- I made her a sandwich, put it in front of her at the table, then went to get mine-when all of a sudden a siren went off. (the Halle siren) "mom...mom mom mom... amen. amen amen..." We hadn't said the blessing on the food yet and she was letting me know that we hadn't. So she actually knows that prayers happen before each meal...another mommy point for me.

Daddy's little helper

Halle has become Dustin's official grill helper. As you can see even though it isn't warm here we just couldn't wait to fire up the grill...makes it feel more like spring (well at least that it is on its way)! She loves being outside helping...which of course means being inquisitive about everything and letting you know exactley what she is doing. From- "Daddy I'm coming", to checking out all the "diddies (kitties)" outside she is very much a part of everything! We are excited for the warm weather to come back...it is suppose to be mid to late 70's later this week...so cross our fingers that it will continue to look warm so we can go to the park and play!!

Louisville, KY

It was a great spring break, and ending spring break we decided it was time to caravan to the temple. Our nearest temple is in Louisville Kentucky which is 2 hours away. So, we got up at 5:30 Saturday morning and took off. We followed our friends the Sayers down and got there about 9:00. No, Dustin isn't a slow driver-we had to go meet our friends at their place, etc..etc.. We got there and they went first while we went across the street to a church and played with the kiddos. (They have two cute little boys, Matthias and Beckham). Then, when they were done they came over and switched with us and watched Halle. We got finished around 1:30 and took off to get back home. We were so exhausted by the time we got home-but of course Halle was wide awake!! It was a great trip, but we decided next time that we were just going to hire a babysitter to watch Halle, that way it would just be a 6 hour trip.

Hot Dogs and more

So we had a fun family night and thought we would share with everyone! We went to a local state park and hiked (somewhat), we got to see a waterfall (super fun) and watch the wildlife...squirrels. After "our monster hike" we went to a different part of the park to play on the playground...mainly Halle's choosing and cook up some hot dogs. We got to go with our friends the Sayers and the Hanselmanns they both have little kiddos about Halle's age. We had a blast, but when it was over Halle was a little bummed. OK, she was really bummed- she screamed the entire ride home (about 35 minutes) yelling her little friends names in between screams at us. She was very exhausted by the time she got home. But we did have a blast... and will do it more as it gets warmer here!

"Wing....wing"

We also got to take Halle for the first time in what seems like years to the park!! She loves to go up and down the stairs, slide, and swing. She will walk around the house and say..."Mommy, wing. WING!!" We are excited for the warmer weather we have coming to us!! It is suppose to be 75 degrees tomorrow which will be the warmest in who knows how long! But by Friday the high will be 40-so we have to enjoy it now. We are looking at going to the lake tomorrow we will let you all know how it goes!

Sandbox Fun

We went to the park and Halle loved playing in the sand!! She got nice and dirty...sand in her shoes, in her diaper, shirt, and all up in her hair!! It was a great bath time when we got home!!!

Our little Artist

We have a new little artist in the family. Halle has found a new love for coloring!! She will lay down anywhere with a pen, pencil, or colors and color her coloring books over and over. We also found that it works great during church...we brought a little pencil and she just sat on the bench the whole time and colored!!

Updates

Just a bunch of catch up stuff for today- first things first we went to another Doctor appt. for Halle (which I love our pediatrician...the best we have ever had!!) And Halle is doing great- she is now officially in the 90-95% for height (definitely a Peterson thing) , 75-90% for weight, and of course her head was off the charts at above the 99%. She is weighing in at 27 lbs, and might I add that that is a solid 27lbs? She is developing great too- just tonight for dinner she used her fork the entire dinner. Refusing to touch the food with her hands because it felt "icky". Tomorrow it is supposed to be 65 degrees outside so we are planning on going to the park, having a picnic...and anything else that we can do outside since this will be the first day above 50 since...well since last summer? We are super excited...I think I am more than anyone but...who wouldn't be excited to get outside?

Then to explain the pics, we had a very early anniversary date this year. Dustin took me to go see Cirque Dreams at the IU auditorium. We got REALLY good seats for a really good price..well ok not to boast but this is one of the perks of being married to a man who works at a school and who has really good connections. We sat in the 13th row...and paid $29 for each ticket. We found out the tickets were going for like $130 other places. We got lucky!! It was a really neat show and would suggest that if given the chance everyone go see it!! The only problem that we had was the fact that the lady who sat in front of me had the biggest hair I have ever seen...hence why I had to lean closer to D the whole night- but I guess it was an anniversary thing so if anything I could say we were cuddling! haha, it was good though.

Other than that everything is going great, little bambino is kicking me like crazy- I am just getting prepared for the more violent kicks to come. I have another Doctor appt. tomorrow afternoon so- will keep you upated on that!

Easy Beef Lasagna

Once again I made another great dinner the other night and had to share with all!! It was really good, and the best part was that it was really easy!!!

Easy Beef Lasagna

Prep: 15 min.; Bake: 1 hr., 15 min.; Stand: 10 min. Fire-roasted tomatoes in the pasta sauce add robust flavor, but your favorite sauce will work just fine.

3 cups cooked lean ground beef
1 (26-oz.) jar fire-roasted tomato-and-garlic pasta sauce
1 (15-oz.) container ricotta cheese
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
6 no-cook lasagna noodles
2 cups (8 oz.) shredded mozzarella cheese

1. Stir together ground beef and pasta sauce. Stir together ricotta cheese and Parmesan cheese.
2. Spread one-third of meat sauce in a lightly greased 11- x 7-inch baking dish; layer with 3 lasagna noodles and half each of ricotta cheese mixture and shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat procedure once. Spread remaining one-third of meat sauce over mozzarella cheese.

3. Bake, covered, at 375° for 1 hour; uncover and bake 15 more minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Note: For testing purposes only, we used Classico Fire Roasted Tomato & Garlic pasta sauce and Barilla Oven Ready Lasagne.

Easy Turkey Lasagna: Substitute 3 cups cooked ground turkey for 3 cups cooked lean ground beef, and proceed as directed.

Freeze Frame: If using frozen cooked ingredients, add 15 minutes to your bake time. If the recipe is covered during the first part of baking, then you'll add the 15 minutes to the covered baking time.

Yield: Makes 6 to 8 servings

Kitties

For those of you who don't know, yes, we have cats. Not my favorite, but they are good companions...for the most part. We have one cat named Klio...and for those of you who haven't met Klio she is...well yes, not the brightest crayon in the box...in fact I would label her a light gray. And that is being polite. But the one good thing about having a cat who isn't all here is that she lets Halle do ANYTHING to her! And that cat will just sit there and take it! Great cat to have with kids!! These are pics of Halle carrying Klio around the house...basically by her neck. Klio let Halle do this for about 10 minutes until Halle got bored and dropped her. (Don't worry...I think she was dropped a lot when she was really young...Klio that is). Anyway- other than that the reast of the week was great, Halle has learned a new song...yep she has her ABC's!! Not all the way- she can get through G, and then I say what comes after H and she says I, J she says K, L then M. Then she will mumble the rest until now I know my ABC's won't you sing the rest with me which she will say. I am aiming to get the ABC's by this summer. We will see how that goes! Other than that things are just dandy...we got (hopefully) our last snow this week. We really want to start getting outside to play...I think Halle is really bored with mom.
