Too many "nacks"

So- I got this swimsuit last year when it was super cheap with the intention of Halle wearing it for this summer. And...as most of us know Halle loves her snacks...well any meal for that matter, soooo- I got the swimsuit out today to see what we were looking at for this summer. It won't work. It looks super cute as long as she doesn't move or bend or do anything, but when she starts bending and moving the swimsuit starts a creeping. Needless to say we have started looking around for a different swimming suit. I thought both pictures would be enjoyed...especially with the crazy hair.

Snowmans and Orange Rolls

So after we were told that Halle needs to get out and play in the snow...we finally took her out (well Dustin took her out) and they built a mighty fine snowman. They also got to sled down the hill, trudge through the snow, and all that other fun stuff that you are suppose to do when it snows. She had a blast but was ready to come in when it was time!!

On another note, I tried another new recipe last night for breakfast this morning...SOO GOOD!!!! Here is the link, it is from www.southernliving.com (one of my favorite cooking websites). They are called Orange Rolls, and you have to make sure and make the honey topping along with the orange topping (and yes these are fat free...) haha. Give them a try, they are great!!

New Recipe

Ok- so I tried this recipe tonight...really really good and it is SUPER healthy for you too! It looks kind of complicated at first with all the ingredients but once you start going it is really easy to put together. It says it makes 4 servings but we had plenty of leftovers with us eating (as many of you know Dustin eats a lot) so... enjoy!!

CHICKEN WITH CHUNKY VEGETABLE SAUCE

Ingredients
2 Tbl flour
4 medium skinless, boneless chicken breast halves (about 1 lb)
1 cp finely chopped onion
1 Tbl olive oil
2 cloves garlic minced
1 14oz can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 14oz can artichoke hearts, drained and halved
1/3cp reduced sodium chicken broth
dash of black pepper
2 Tbl chopped pitted ripe olives
1 Tbl snipped fresh oregano or 1 tsp dried oregano
2 cps hot cooked rice

1. Place flour in a shallow dish. Dip chicken in flour to coat. Set aside.
2. In a large skillet, cook onion in hot oil over medium heat for 3 minutes. Stir in garlic; push mixture to sides of pan. Add chicken. Cook 4 minutse, or until brown, turning once. Add tomatoes, artichokes, broth, and pepper;stir.
3. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, 10 minutes, or until chicken is tender and no longer pink. Remove chicken.
4. Simmer tomato mixture, uncovered, about 3 minutes, or until reduced to desired consistency. Stir in olives and oregano. Serve the chicken over rice; top with sauce.

Gatorade

Ok- So as many of you know Halle got really sick on Friday (throwing up...the wonderful stuff) so she was down and out. Then, (since we are working on sharing) she gave it to me on Sunday (lovely) but now both of us are pretty much back to normal. EXCEPT Halle.... she loves the gatorade and pedialyte that our doctor put her on and I thought no biggie about it... just more fluids until just about 30 minutes ago when I decided no more. She woke up from nap super cuddly, we ate snack, and then she stood up-looked at me and it happened. Yep- to spare you some details it was all the way down to her socks. Through her diaper, soaking her shirt, jeans, and socks. How does that happen?? I blame the Gatorade...so no more will be given after this. No More...laugh if you please but many of you have had this happen to you and if not...just wait. Your turn will come!!!

Celebrity Look-Alike

Valentine's Day Surprise

Well, since Dustin had to work on Wednesday (the official V-day) we decided that we were going to celebrate on Friday night. I got a babysitter from the ward and Dustin had all his plans set for a wonderful night (I still had no idea what was going to happen). I woke up on Friday morning and did my usual routine- got Halle up, we went downstairs and ate breakfast (waffles) then turned on Elmo. I was tired so sat down by Halle to watch Sesame Street...and then all of a sudden Halle turned towards me (at this point she is standing right next to me) looks funny...and then throws up ALL over me!!! Yes, yes, Happy Valentine's Day to me!! So, we spent (yes Dustin didn't go to work because there was no way I, a pregnant woman, was going to bend over and clean the mess up) so we spent all day cleaning up throw up (yes mutliple times) and trying to get Halle to stay as calm/immobile as possible so the mess didn't go too far. It was a sad day. BUT- needless to say the babysitter was canceled and Dustin had to switch the plans to work out of our house. It was so wonerful!! He outfitted our family room into a home theatre. He put "curtains up" to black it out, got a projector from campus, and made a movie for us to watch. It was so romantic!! It had all the pics of different things we have done in our many years of marriage along with my favorite music. Took a lot of time and effort and it was so cute!!! Then we watched The Guardian with Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Costner (sp??) It was pretty good. It was a very fun night!! Luckily Halle didn't wake up at all last night (even though she had absolutely nothing on her stomach) so when she awoke at 7:30 this morning I just started praying that this throw up thing was over, and it was!! Poor little girl woke up just shaking because she was so hungry!! She ate with her regular appetite today and had her regular attitude so all is well!!!

It continues to snow and be down right cold (high of 15 today) but hey...at least if it is this cold we have TONS of snow!! Dustin got "in trouble" at work the other day when asked if Halle enjoyed playing in the snow...his reply, which is true, she doesn't know. Her parents don't like the snow nor the cold so...she doesn't get the chance. But I think if it weren't so icy outside I would be more willing to let her explore but it is so icy and cold I worry about her slipping and falling. Needless to say we are looking into the future at moving somewhere a little bit warmer. Anyway- we are watching the All-Star Dunk Contest so I better go...

12 Weeks!!

12 Weeks and counting... I think. Yesterday I went to my first Doctor apt. and it went wonderful!! My doctor is Dr. Brewer and he and his wife do a private practice right across the street from the hospital. He is a very nice man and we got to chit chat a lot...he answered a lot of questions too. The good news- (I thought it was) is that I have only gained 6 lbs this first trimester!! I was thinking it was going to be A LOT more but only 6!! I figured because I hadn't been working out as much, and eating so much more I was expecting to weigh in about 15lbs more than last time. Speaking of weight (I really appreciate this) my Dr. asked how much weight I gained last time and I told him about 40-45 lbs. (Mind you I thought I started off pregnant with Halle a little bigger than "normal") and Dr. Brewer said ok- this time we are goign to be working very hard at keeping your weight gain to 25-35 lbs. I enjoyed that my Dr. actually wants to keep me fit...he even told me to keep working out so that I don't loose everything I have been working for these past couple of months. Other than that things are great, Dustin and I are going in to the Dr. again tomorrow morning for a ultra sound to see the wee little one (no we can't see the sex yet) so we are excited for that!! I will post some pics tomorrow when we get home!!

Cookies and Waffles

So we have a new cook in the family. Halle has grown to love cooking with mom...our only problem is that she eats more than she helps!! On Thursday night (Dustin's late night) we made Valentine Day sugar cookies. At first she was excited to just be siting on the counter and watching what I was doing. Then she loved helping push the cookie cutters in...and then it hit. Wait.. I can eat this cookie dough? After that is was a mad rush (on my part) to get as many cookies on the cookie sheet before she could inhale all the dough! After the cookies came out and cooled we frosted them AND put sprinkles on. At that point all she wanted to do was lick the frosting off of the cookies-and that is what she did!!

Something else that happened (dustin said I had to mention this one) well I went in on Halle after nap time and she was (picture this) sitting indian style in her crib picking the sock lint out of her toes going...ewwww and putting the lint in between the slats of her crib so they wouldn't be near her. Such a comic.

This morning we made waffles, and of course our little cook wanted to help out. I think she remembered the cookies all to vividly though as the first thing she did was put the spoon in the batter to stir and took it out and licked it. The funniest part is the fact that she actually like the batter and tried going in for more!! She loves her waffles..just like her mommy!!!

Other than that nothing big has happened. Dustin is applying for internships all over for the summer and we will just have to see what happens. Today is is 13 degrees outside...it was -5 when I woke up. It is suppose to get to 40 by the end of next week...we are super excited!!! We just can't wait till is starts getting warm enough so we can start going to parks again...and Halle can walk around outside without the fear of frostbite setting in within the first 5 minutes!!

So, It doesn't snow?!?!?!?

When Dustin came here last year to check out the school he was told many things, and one of those was the "Oh, don't worry it doesn't snow in Bloomington. It will be nothing like Utah!!" Somebody was lying through there teeth when they told Dustin that, SERIOUSLY! We got 2 feet of snow today...in about 5 hours. Talk about a major snow storm, all the local schools were delayed today and already closed tomorow. Yep, it snows. Besides the cold though we are doing great. Halle has been kicking into full fledged independence-but still cute as ever. We are talking up a whirlwind these days, our newest words are- sticker, Ernie, Bert, Cookie, Big Bird (anything Sesame Street) pickle, chicken, um... and those are all that are coming to me right now. We tried something new last night- curlers in our hair. SUPER CUTE! But, she wasn't a fan of sleeping in them...so around 10:30 pm I took them out...then when she woke up I got her hair wet and put them back in. THey looked super cute when they first came out and then about 30 minutes later all curl was gone. I will have to try some major gel next time!!

Dustin had a basketball game tonight- he is playing on a team with a lot of guys from our church and they are competing in IU intermurals...it was fun, but it was interesting being there and seeing all the undergrads. Some of those guys looked like they had to be in 10th grade not in college!! Time to check into bed though... I have been so tired lately and can't seem to get enough sleep!!

How do I do it?

Once again, I am patting myself on the back for the newest "item" that I have found for us to participate it. It has got to be the best secret in Bloomington!! This morning Halle and I went to a new playgroup to try it out (thanks to my friend Andrea that it). We met at McDonalds around 9 (at this point Halle was very upset about not having had anything to eat) but we met there and we ordered whatever we wanted, and then we got to sit by other moms (about 5) , chit chat, and then our food came (yes it was paid for by the group) and our kids got to eat and play while they had a speaker come in and teach us about hte First Steps Program that is offered. Amazing, i know, but it wasn't over yet. After that we went to an Elementary school down the road where they had playgroup. They had fifth graders come in and read stories to all the kids, after that they had a craft pertaining to the story, then snack time (they had a cake made that looked exactly like the story)..and then play time!! All the toys are super new, and super clean. They had Clorox cleanup wipes everywhere (so everything was totally clean)!! It was so nice!! I really have grown to enjoy Bloomington and all that they offer for families. Everyone should move here...it is a wonderful place to be!!
