Today is Dustin's first day working at UNLV which means that I return to being the only parent at home. I started potty training Halle yesterday...not going so hot...I thought it was suppose to be easier if I waited until she was about 3?? It seemed easier when I tried last time I just gave up... (note to self for next one) she is doing ok today. It REALLY didn't help that 20 minutes after D left for work a migraine came on...so I had Halle in panties running and of course peeing around the house, Bennett crawling around chasing her (yep gross), and me laying on the couch after self medicating with Advil and a cold washcloth. Days like these I wish I had a mom around...
Wonderful Christmas Time

BUMMER!! Not a good day for potty training, that's for sure. I highly suggest the tylenol "migraine" pills. They are wonderful.
Oh and for potty training...well load her up with sugary drinks and set her in front of the tv sitting on a port-a-potty. That way she'll have a whole day FULL of experiences!!! Plus make her in charge of cleaning her own messes. Reminder her she is now learning to be "responsible" for her own peepee's. It makes them feel extra special. OH and I love candy rewards that make them MORE thirsty. ;) Good luck!!
Oh, you poor thing. Thank heavens I don't get migraines because I'm such a grump even when I get a bad headache. Being a mom and being sick do not work well together so I really feel for you. I hope you're feeling better.
And good luck with the potty training. No fun!! But don't feel bad if you're stuffing her full of candy to bribe her to go. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to get them trained. Worked great for Alivia!
Actually, I always used "salty" treats (chips, nuts, etc.) to make them more thirsty and, therefore, drink more so they would have to go potty more!!!
Remember the white stuffed seal at Mervyn's was a BIG motivation for Anne.... :)
Mom P :)
Also getting to wear big girl panties!!!
K,. I just potty trained David and have the BEST way to do it. I made this big chart called "David's big boy potty chart" and put like 70 boxes or somthing on it. And then we went to walmart and we picked out a bunch of stickers for David to put on the chart everytime he goes potty. So I just put him in his undies, (of course a few accidents the first few days) and every 30 mins we would go and sit on the potty. And then that first time he went we had a big party and we put a sticker on and for the first week or so, everytime he goes potty we call someone to tell them (The first day we called Spiderman, then lightning McQueen, Shrek, Little Mermaid etc... ) All the family did tons of great voices! We started training about 2 weeks ago and he hasn't had any accidents this week, and he totally tells me everytime he has to go now. I LOVE not changing a 2 1/2 year olds' diapers! Good luck!
Samye,
I am just starting to get the vibe from Natey that he is ready for potty training and I am SO NOT up for it! All kids are different, All my kiddos seem to get the bug at 18-24 months and I know I just have to go for it and get it done. I LOATH potty training, that is why we got rid of the puppy. =) It was like training a kid only worse. The sticker chart worked awesome for Gracie and Ben just loved the praise more than anything. However she has to be ready, I know this for sure, if she is, this time around it should go a lot quicker. GOOD LUCK! We've all been there are are behind you 100%.
Kate
