Too Much Fun

We are having way too much fun. Want to hear what we have been doing all morning?
First we went and jumped on the trampoline
Then we went and visited grandma down the street
We went up and visited the horses and cows (Bennett got licked up his shirt by the cow...blah) and saw the new foal
Came back down to do more jumping and playing
Finally came inside to eat lunch-both kids were falling asleep in their lunch

...boy I love being back at my parents place for a bit. A nice change from our rocky backyard, and cement sideyard.

Dinner Battle

Have you ever had the dinner battle at your house? We have...numerous times. Mostly with our 3 year old, but last night was little dude's turn. You see... I have always said that I will never make separate meals for my children, this is what we are having for dinner you eat it or you go hungry (harsh I know). Well, then Bennett comes into the picture- when he was born he was extremly allergic to milk...even at his first birthday he broke out in hives while eating his ice cream for his party (sad I know). So- whenever I made anything to eat for our family, if it had milk in it I had to get him something different. Within the past month I have noticed that the reactions are no longer there...he ate macaroni and cheese for the first time and actually loved it (as to the previous time when he broke out in severe hives all over his face and mouth). You can imagine my joy when I realized that dinner will once again only be one meal...

Last night I made a very simple dinner...chicken on the grill, carrots, and rice. We sat down and started eating-Bennett sucked his carrots in like he was a vacuum and then looked at us and told us he wanted down. We decided we weren't going to allow this (usually he would get down, go play, and then come back 20 minutes later looking for a snack...something other than what we had eaten for dinner) so we said no you have to eat your chicken (this is at 6pm). At 6:15 he starts yelling because we won't put him down so we turn his chair towards the wall. From that point on every about 10 minutes we would ask "Are you ready to turn around?" His answer "yeah". We would turn him around and tell him to eat his chicken... "NO"... Ok, so we would turn him back around to face the wall. This went on throughout dinner (45 minutes...including clean up time) throughout Family Home Evening (yep we left him in his chair...30 + minutes) and then after having a grand ole time with FHE we went to the kitchen to have dessert. I think that he finally realized that we weren't going to give.... we meant business. So as we are sitting there eating our pineapple upside down cake (which was delicious.) when all of a sudden we hear these monstrous chewing noises and he is stuffing every piece of chicken in his mouth with his chubby little hands. It took him literally 35 seconds flat. After he finished he was turning to look for us saying "mama....dadda.....done" and it was 7:30pm. What a stubborn little boy... but after finishing he did enjoy dessert...and lots of loves just so he knew that we still loved him.

It only took us 90 minutes...boy we are REALLY mean parents...

Too Busy

I will start off by saying that I love animals. I really do. I have a degree in English Education yet when we first got married I went and worked at a vet clinic because I would rather get paid to be around animals than around kids (wait...aren't they the same?). I grew up with a dog and cat always in the house...along with the occasoinal guinea pig, finches (how I hate birds...but that is another post altogether), and lizards.

It wasn't until we moved to Vegas that I have grown to detest outside cats. No...I HATE them. Luckily my friend Kate let me borrow her pellet gun because my husband refuses to buy me any type of weapon (I guess he is scared of me getting mad...I have really good aim) and I have taken a keen liking to shooting any animal that comes into our side yard. Most cats have learned to stear clear of our yard just because if it comes in...it will get shot. I figured Ok, we have this problem under control-and I actually considered returning Kate's pellet gun because we haven't had a cat visitor in a long time. Good thing I didn't.

Walking with my neighbor today we were talking and I asked her what was new...she told me...."My cat is pregnant...AGAIN! I don't know what to do...everytime I let her outside she comes back pregnant?" (She had just had a liter of kittens when we moved here). This cat is WAY TOO BUSY. At this rate she is having a new liter of kittens every 6 months thereby single handedly increasing the cat population by 25 cats a year. I do know what will solve this problem....FIXING YOUR CAT!!!!!!

Point of this story? I am buying my own pellet gun tomorrow.

sick...

I finally went to the doctor today...and it was not fun! We came out with more antibiotics and meds than I thought they would put into your body! The diagnosis:
ME: upper resperatory infection
Halle: Ear infection along with viral bronchiatus
Bennett: RSV (you know, just like an upper resperatory infection, fever, etc all bundled into one)

Yes...we are lots of fun to be around!

Valentines Day

We had a wonderful Valentines day.. for the most part. We started off waking up to two really snotty noses and loud coughs (blah) but decided that we could still make it a wonderful day. Halle and D got out her Home Depot kit (he was out of town last week, so I went and picked it up so that they could do it together when he got home) and made a beautiful jewelry box together.

Then we went out shopping to get some last minute items for dinner (we do V-day dinner at home...) last year we did it after the kids went to bed and I think we will start doing that again next year. Anyway- before dinner Dustin went to get a little surprise...and "he" was not little. When he got home he arrived with Ryder, a mastiff/Labrador mix who is only 4 months old. (Yes, i was very excited!) The kids were excited, the parents were excited, and Ryder could hardly contain his excitement. We were a little nervous bringing Ryder home just due to the fact that Bennett is allergic to EVERYTHING, but since he didn't show any allergy sign to our cats we figured he would be ok....(A good assumption right?) I mean how could this cute boy be allergic to dogs...

Wrong. Every time Ryder licked Bennett (which is what puppies do) Bennett would break out in hives, welts, and his eyes were constantly watering/itchy/and red. Nice. We figured we would make it work.... we would just see what will happen. Roll around to this morning and Bennett didn't want anything to do with him (Oh yeah, insert that Ryder went from 8pm until 7am with no accident in his crate) but Bennett wouldn't even get close to him. AND when he would the hives/welts/crappage would appear again.

Needless to say Ryder's "mommy" came back and picked him up and I sit here typing this with a tear in my eye because we will (more than likely) never be dog owners thanks to this cutie pahtootie (Ben)... It was fun while we had you Ryder...and my oh my you are going to be a HUGE dog one day.

Overall it was a successfull Valentines Day, (although with Bennett screaming throughout dinner, Halle singing "How firm a foundation" at the top of her lungs and the dog snoring while he slept we will do dinner when the kids go to bed next year) it was still fabulous. Do I feel like I love my husband more- OF COURSE! But, I think I love him more and more every day that we are married. Thank you sweetie for being the man that I always dreamed off...and for being you. I love you
